After a 5-year geological period, Congress has lifted the banish for U.S. Examiners to oversee horse slaughter, which signifies the doorways are now open once again for horse cavalry* to be killed and slaughtered in the United States. As anticipated, militants are outrages (as am I), particularly considering that shambleses could be up and running in as littler as a calendar month. And for what? Greedy ranchers.
Back in 2006, those who opposed horse slaughter pushed a Bill to Congress that cut funding for horse meat inspections and essentially banned the practice. But now, thanks to a new spending bill courtesy of Obama President two weeks ago, Congress revoked the federal ban on horse slaughter in the United States. No funding for this now would come from taxpayers, costing US $ 3 million to 5 million dollars a year. Although the USDA did say that there are currently no slaughterhouses in the United States that Butcher horses for human consumption, but if one were to open, it would conduct inspections to make sure federal laws were followed. How nice of them.
Those who are in favor of horse slaughter still argue that without it, we would see an increase of neglect and abandonment of horses (as they butcher is not abuse?), and that they now wasting time now getting going – possibly to slaughter plant in Wyoming, North Dakota, Nebraska and Missouri. They say that a slaughterhouse could open in 30 to 90 days and over 200,000 horses a year could be killed with the meat to be sent to countries in Europe and Asia.
PETA is taking a strong position against this and reminds people of the horrible conditions that these horses must endure. They declared on Facebook:
It is really shameful and unthinkable that there are people out there that deal with animals in this way. Much less to try to make a profit of abuse and slaughter them. We hope that Congress wakes up and rebuilds the embargo against the slaughtering these beautiful animals.
