Kanye Benjamin West has a take a chance to expand his already-huge compendium of fourteen Grammys and that he's the top campaigner for the 54th yearbook Grammy Awards. Kanye picked up a leading 7 nominating address*, while Adele, Giordano Bruno Mars and Foo attack aircraft* are tied with six for each one.
Strangely, Kanye is only named in one of four main categories: Grammys ' song of the year for "all the lights." Conversely, Adele, Bruno and Foo Fighters appear in three categories: Grammy's greatest Album, Record and song of the year. Candidates for the Album, Record and Song of the Year and Best New Artist were announced during a one-hour CBS special that featured performances by, among others, Lady Gaga, The Band Perry, Jason Aldean, Ludacris, Usher, Sugarland, satellite, and Rihanna. One of the highlights came when Lady Gaga collaborated with Sugarland to perform the hit "you and I"-Gaga and Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland had a ball trading verses and giving shout-out to one another in the texts.
Gaga also opened the show performing "Marry the night" while wearing skeleton trick and a blazer, black BRA, panties and boots, while dancing on top of a mound of industrial waste. Jason Aldean and Ludacris collaborated to Jason hitting the dirt road "Anthem", and the Band Perry threw a bit of "Free Fallin" Tom Petty in their song "independence." Usher paid tribute to the late singer-songwriters Jerry Lieber and Nickolas Ashford singing the songs "Stand By Me" and "you're all i need to get By" respectively.
Snubs Grammy notable include Paul Simon, whose critically acclaimed so beautiful or so what album, which many predicted would score several nods, was ignored by Grammy voters. Former Album of the year winner Taylor Swift has received several nods, but not in any of the major categories. Except for its Best New Artist nod, Nicki Minaj was also ignored.
