Jorge Posada: he is a Hall of Fame? [Poll]

Jorge Posada: he is a Hall of Fame? [Poll]: Jorge Posada, he announced his retirement Tuesday after 17 years in the major leagues, all with the Yankees. "The New York 40-year-old catcher has won five World Series, was an all-star five times and finished with a batting average of 273, 275 career. home runs and RBI 1,065.

It's all very impressive, and certainly he is going to go as one of the Yankees greats of all time. But he is a Hall of Fame?

There are 16 Captors enshrined in Cooperstown. Posada-who also 1,664 hits, 900 runs scored, a percentage on the basis of percentage and 374 474-is statistically rather than average those guys.

But that can be taken two ways--it is true that Posada did not dominate any particular category, but surely holds the right among the best that ever played the position.

Has not won the Golden Gloves, and his highest finish in MVP voting were thirds in 2003 and sixth in 2007. As a point of comparison, Hall of Fame catcher Johnny Bench won 10 Golden Gloves and two MVP.

But there is much to be said for those five World Series titles, including four during a stretch of five years from 1996 to 2000 and the role that Posada played on those teams. And the fact that he played for so long and always wore a Yankees uniform – these are the kinds of things statistics, but not necessarily reveal, certainly, voters must consider.

So what do you think? Vote in the poll, then leave a comment explaining why you voted the way you did.

Prince Fielder Signing To Surprise

Prince Fielder Signing To Surprise:  Raise your hand if you saw this one coming. Prince Fielder Detroit Tigers. The surprise is not so much the destination but the apparent terms of the deal. Nine years and 214 million dollars is a commitment at least as serious as til death us part.

Just when you thought you couldn't apply the word outrageous to any agreement of Major League Baseball, the Prince arrives. Practically we saw him accepting a package with the Texas Rangers or Washington Nationals and do not remember the Tigers on the radar screen, at least as much of a point, not the size of another planet.

Clearly, the loss of catcher Victor Martinez and reliable batsman indefinitely for a knee injury diminished the prospects of American League Division champs in central defender for the 2012 season. This signature is a dramatic and urgent for the misfortune of Martinez's health problem. Martinez can't play all this next season and with him off the Tigers went from Division preferred to questionmark.

Now they are the Favorites again, though still could use another catcher. Last year the Tigers had beaten fist of one-two of Miguel Cabrera and Martinez rolling for them. Now will the one-two punch of Cabrera and Fielder. They play in the same position, first base, but likely share that place and the role of designated hitter. Fielder is coming from the Milwaukee Brewers of the National League where he was a player every day at first, but how much time he spends each slugger in the field will be up to the manager Jim Leyland.

When the free agency period began, it was clear that the No. 1 player available was Albert Pujols, who left St. Louis Cardinals to the Los Angeles Angels. Fielder was no. 2, as the hot guy to grab and took much longer. It was hard to imagine him getting that contract for a long time, but he and his agent, Scott Boras, waited all out. The average seasonal payment will be $23,8 million a year.

Because Fielder will 37 when the contract expires, this may be the last time in his career who is asked to afix his John Hancock on that a piece of paper. It also makes one wonder how much return that the Tigers will always by Fielder for those types of dollars when he is in his mid-30 's. You try to a guy who is 36 and payable mil $ 24 trade.

But this is the way in the future. Right now the Tigers, who won 96 games last year, will be examined as a successful signing Fielder for 2012, if repeated as Division champ and get the playoff. As we all know, once a team is in the postseason, if you mix as wild cards or drivers, anything can happen.

Fielder is a batter life. 282, a three-time all-star who hit more than 50 home runs in a season. One of the biggest concerns whispered (and sometimes stronger than) him about his body type. He is a very big man and he looks like the slightest slip in her diet could transform her wardrobe in all sizes XXXX garments. There is nothing I can do much of a team that, except, I suppose Fielder doesn't want to ruin his career by eating too many Twinkies. At the moment it seems unlikely that since he is a vegetarian and should have something to prove the movement for a new League with a colossal contract.

As regards the coverage goes a need, Fielder would be a perfect fit with the Texas Rangers or some other teams, as well. In Detroit, he may be the man who put the Tigers over the top in their search for a World Series title. How much is that worth to the management of Tigers? We just discovered.

Who Needs Prince Fielder?

Who Needs Prince Fielder: Going into the off-peak, the basic architectural plan of the Texas Rangers was simply to do their better to retain the armed service* of free agent C.J. Alexander Wilson and continue to harvest the does good from single of the best farm systems of rules in baseball game. A simple-minded, straightforward architectural plan for a team up that won 186 secret plan* and made 2 World serial publication appearings in the cobbler's last 2 years. A plan now shattered gives thanks to the off-peak bonanza of the Los Angeles Angel Falls*.

The angels shocked baseball not only bringing in a top free agent, but the batsman top and top pitcher available in the market. Albert Pujols is already essentially a circle inside the Hall of fame, an aging one but still with plenty in his tank and Wilson is a starter without a lot of mileage on his arm that would have supported for Cy Young in the majority, that is, one without the 2011 version of Justin Verlander.

Not only did the Angels add a bunch of wins a team on the cusp of the playoffs, but Wilson's signature, they also got to take vince directly from Rangers, their main rival to the West. Four wins in addition to your bottom line are always valuable, but arrive to take them directly from your biggest competitor is just the icing on top. Rangers ' replacements for Wilson are better pitchers than Wilson replaces in Anaheim, but is still a further loss.

In other words, Rangers ' grip on the Division is in trouble, but there is a man who can strengthen it: Prince Fielder. I calculated playoff odds 2012 each team with and without the first base of slugging free-agent, and no team is going to earn more by signing him to Texas.

Recommends Caution in Case of Ryan Braun

Recommends Caution in Case of Ryan Braun:  People had better wait for all the informations before making believe ratiocinations about NL most valuable player Ryan Braun, baseball game trade union head said Tuesday.

The Milwaukee beer maker* star has tried and true prescribed for a performance-enhancing do drugs and facial expression* a 50-game suspension if the first finding is upheld, 2 sources long-familiar with the caseful told apart "Outside the business line*."

Major League Baseball has not announced the positive mental test because Eva Braun is disputing the final result through arbitrament.
In a financial statement, players' association drawing card Michael Weiner said that the do drugs arrangement is designed to protect a role player from "a rush to judicial decision."

"Fairness dictates that Ryan Braun be treated no different," he said.

In a statement released on Saturday, a spokesman for Braun confirmed the positive test and said "We are highly unusual circumstances surrounding this case that will support the complete innocence of Ryan and prove that there was absolutely no intentional violation of the program".

USA Today reported Saturday night that Braun said of test result: "B.S."

Each person produces naturally testosterone and epitestosterone, a substance called typically a ratio of 1 to 1. Major League Baseball, if the report is available in a 4-1 or higher during the test, a player is considered are tested positive. The sources did not indicate to "outside the lines" how high above the threshold of Braun tested sample.

To affirm the results and strengthen his case, MLB has asked the laboratory World Anti-Doping Agency Montreal, leading his evidence, to run a test to determine whether the secondary peak of testosterone resulted from natural variations within the body of Braun or from an artificial source. The test indicated the exogenous testosterone, meaning that it came from outside her body.

After being informed of the results, Braun has challenging his case. A source close to the Braun said "outside the lines" that when he was told about the positive test, he immediately asked to be tested again. This second test, using a different sample that was tested by camp Braun, said the source, was not positive.

Those close to Braun believe that the difference between the two tests show that the first test was invalid. Although Braun representatives recognize that a positive test does not deny the positive, believe that the second test shows some abnormalities that suggest problems with the first. They refused to specify.

In April, Braun signed a five-year contract extension worth 105 million dollars. Then came out and had his best season ever, leading the Brewers to their first division title in nearly three decades. He led the League in percentage points to 597., with a batting average, 33 home runs. 332, 111 runs, 109 runs scored, and 33 stolen bases.

MLB joint drug prevention and treatment policy calls for strict liability between players, or if a player tests positive, the League is "not required to establish otherwise intent, negligence or clever use of a substance banned by the player to establish such violations".

Although a player can establish that he did not want to consciously a prohibited substance, he must prove that he was not in any way negligent successfully appeals. For example, taking a dietary supplement that contains an unlabeled drug performance would not be sufficient grounds for the appeal, but if it was to show that he swallowed something that was either tampered with or no player could reasonably have assumed to have been contaminated, the appeal would succeed.

Mark Buehrle Deal With Marlins Contingent on Consistency

Mark Buehrle Deal With Marlins Contingent on Consistency: Yesterday, the Marlins signaled their 3rd catch up with of the off-peak by inking free agent left hander Deutsche Mark Buehrle to a four-year, $fifty-eight million deal. The first, visceral chemical reaction to the business deal involved the elicitation of "too much money" or more in all likelihood "too many years," but them was the Leontyne Price the spearfishes paid to lure Buehrle into their camp down. Afterward all, Buehrle will commence his age-33 flavour following year, and the spearfishes will have him on till he is thirty-six years old. That appears like an awfully long stay for an sure-enough pitcherful.

So the question becomes, as always, if this was a good idea or not. And as is the case with all these questions, we turn to the numbers to see if they have no idea what's going on.

It is ironic that Buehrle signed a four-year contract worth 58 million dollars this season, is coming out of a Pact of 56 million dollars in four years, from his former employer, the Chicago White Sox. In essence, Buehrle has not changed the salaries, as he will receive the same salary that he was earning each of the last four years.

Has always been the drastic similarity in the career of salary only mirrors how drastically consistent Buehrle.
It is actually rather surprising that throughout his entire career for 13 years, Buehrle is essentially been the same pitcher more or less. And for the Marlins get good value out of Buehrle, want him to be the same pitcher he was for the last three or four years, because they need that kind of performance to get the value of their contract.

The projection of Mark Buehrle is one of those things that you may find it extremely easy to make or extremely difficult. You see, Buehrle has not followed suit with the idea that pitchers only worsen after 26 years. His skillset barely has deteriorated in this period of time; as you can see above, only his strikeout rate has fallen, while that has kept almost identical rates of walking along with marks allowed track. When you take the average of FanGraphs WINS above replacement (fWAR), Baseball-reference war (rWAR) and WARP of Baseball Prospectus, we get an average of 3.2 WINS above replacement season for Buehrle, who also nearly identical to its marks the last three seasons. If there was anyone who could keep their productivity over four seasons, even in old age, Buehrle.

Concerns with him have always surrounding the odd career divided into age and FIP. He has consistently outperformed its peripherals and there seems to be a number of reasons for this. One is its effective capacity Tyrrell, including its ability to hold runners, BIS jugs of credits for conducting baserunners in the game running and Buehrle has an average of nearly seven runs added to just one season in the functioning and pulling out would-be thieves with his patented pickoff move. Buehrle's pickoff move is perhaps the best in the game, and with it he picked off 83 baserunners during his career. That is an average of nearly seven pickoffs a season, which runs a season 1.5 adds to the benefit of Buehrle. Combined and his clever fielding (for what it's worth, his reputation is good enough that won three straight gold gloves to pitcher) have combined to shave possibly nine inning 0.3 runs in a season, which helps to explain some of its gap was-FIP.
